The Ontario Optometrist Network

As most of you know, from a financial perspective, optometrists can potentially earn a higher income from some of the other provinces.  However, it’s been tried, tested, and true that you can make similar, if not MORE, here in Ontario IF AND WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY ARISES, as rare as they may be.  We, as a Network, actively seek out these opportunities and negotiate the best possible terms before sending you to the most appropriate locations of your choice.

Most of these locations, undoubtedly, are out of town where the demand for an optometrist is high.  Having said that, we do deal with practices close to, or even within, the city as well.  But in general, the farther away from the city, the higher the demand, the lower the competition.

We understand that this arrangement is not for everybody.  Some optometrists are satisfied with their income while doing minimal travelling.  If you are in this category, then we are happy for you.  Unfortunately, some ODs are not where they envisioned themselves to be.  And this Network will work to alleviate these stress and uncertainties.

Obviously, all practices are different.  But typically, locations that we’ve obtained tend to offer associates 70-90% of examination fees.  Usually, we’ll negotiate a MINIMUM guarantee of approximately $700 per 6 hrs of work to $1200 per 10 hrs of work with ANNUAL BONUSES.  Again, these figures are just the daily minimum and you can expect to earn more than that.  In most cases, mileage, accommodation, and even a flight (if necessary) will be paid for.  As mentioned, there are opportunities within the city as well.

Remember, there is plenty of $$$ to be made out there while serving people who otherwise may not have the privilege to receive optometric care.  Are you willing to go out of town for a day or two a week? If so, great.  But if not, don’t worry.  We’ll try to find something suitable for your needs.
