Ever worked with anyone (an optometrist, optician, ophthalmologist, optical chain, etc.) that you absolutely love? Do you want to promote the perks and direct your peers in the right direction? This is where you can share your positive experiences.
Conversely, if you've worked in an environment where you were treated unfairly (weren’t paid on time, weren’t allowed the leave of absence you felt you deserved, were promised a full patient load but you’re never booked up, were put down verbally, emotionally, or were mistreated in any way, etc.). Well, this is the time to vent. Don’t let your colleagues make the same mistakes. The OON forum is where you can post and read comments and get in touch with your peers. Know what other ODs in Ontario feel. Don’t hesitate to bring up any other miscellaneous issues as well such as public awareness, the advancement of our profession, stories of a horror patient, interesting case studies, etc.
However, be respectful. When making a negative comment, including the city where the incident occurred and labeling a landmark nearby is acceptable, but DO NOT reveal specific names of the people involved. Furthermore, absolutely no profanity will be tolerated. For example, “I worked in Orangeville. It’s a full-dispensing practice located in the Sobey’s plaza.” is an allowable comment. But never directly disclose someone else’s name without his/her permission. The Network reserves the right to screen your comments before they appear in the forum to ensure nothing offensive is posted.
Now, if you’re ready to give your two-cents, then start talking. Live in our community. Your thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated.
